The EVAP canister captures fuel vapors from the fuel tank and routes them to the engine for combustion. A saturated or damaged canister causes P0440-series fault codes and fuel vapor emissions. Verify part numbers against your vehicle's EVAP system configuration before ordering. Clean EVAP purge lines and check the purge valve at the same time as canister replacement.
